Wiped Out

Emotionally exhausted.

That is where we are this moment in time.

Having entered foster care last November, we now find ourselves in need of divine refreshing.

The rollercoaster continues. If it would not do damage to foster parent recruitment, I would write a series of blogs about foster care from a foster parent's perspective.

There is so much misinformation given. So many questions left unanswered.

Children in care for close to two years.

Still no termination.

Birth father arrested again for beating up mom. Released from jail again. Birth mom takes him back.

Still no termination.

Violation of case plan ... repeatedly.

Still no termination.

Visits continue without a hitch.

Rules are broken.

And a judge does nothing.

Back in January, CASA recommends to the court that parental rights be terminated.

The judge does nothing.

In June, we return to court. No change with parents.

The judge does nothing.

In August, yet another court date.

The judge does nothing.

Now we await a September court hearing.

Will history repeat itself.

We entered foster care with the express purpose of adoption. We made no secret of this. We were told the children needed to be moved to a concurrent home because termination was going to happen soon.

That was more than ten months ago.

We now only have one foster child. We love her dearly, but realize her fate is not in our hands.

It is in the hands of the judge -- the same judge who has sat in three court appearance and done nothing.

When OCS recommended that visits be scaled back, the judge refused.

Does he not care?

Or does he have more important things on his schedule than preventing children from being put back into an abusive situation?

Emotional exhaustion.

This is our new street address.

We may be here for awhile.
