Congratulations to the U12 Bulldogs who advanced to the championship game of the Kohls Recreational Tournament in Shreveport yesterday afternoon.
The Bulldogs, by far, had the most difficult tournament schedule. First, the girls played their toughest Cabosa opponent and tied 3-3. Then the second game Saturday saw the Bulldogs coming back to beat a strong Natchitoches team 4-3.
On Sunday, the Bulldogs beat an undefeated team from Lafayette (4-1), to advance to the championship. In the championship game, the Bulldogs fell 0-1 to the team they tied in the first game. The only score, unfortunately, came on a penalty kick.
I am so proud of the 12 girls who suited up for the tournament. They gave their best effort, they worked so hard, and they fought to the end. I continue to count it as such a blessing to coach these girls.
Even though second place is a mix of disappointment and celebration, I can honestly say that these girls overcame some significant odds this weekend.
And for that, I am thankful to them and proud of them.
