You Can

When is the last time someone told you that you could not do something?

If you are a follower of Christ, then you probably hear about all the things you can't do ...

Share a verbal witness of your faith? You can't do that! Remember your past?

Serve in a soup kitchen? You can't do that! You are too busy.

Attend worship assembly at the church building? You can't do that! After all, the elders are incompetent, the preacher is imperfect, there are no classes that appeal to you, and besides, you don't need that environment to worship God.

You can't get better.

You can't recover from your sin.

You can't serve God.

You can't forgive that other person.

You can't forgive yourself.

You can't get involved.

You can't please God.

You can't, you can't, you can't, you can't ...

These are not the words of God.

Remember Saul's conversion (Saul who later went by the name Paul)? God sent him to a believer named Ananias. Here is how the conversation between God and Ananias went:

The Lord told him, "Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying. In a vision he has seen a man named Ananias come and place his hands on him to restore his sight. 'Lord,' Ananias answered, 'I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your saints in Jerusalem. And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.' But the Lord said to Ananias, 'Go! This man is my chosen instrument to carry my name before the Gentiles and their kings and before the people of Israel. I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.'" (Acts 9:11-16)

You are a chosen instrument of God.

God says you can.

God empowers you to do what He says you can.

And no force can successfully oppose the power of God.
