Everlast

Promise for the ages
That the words will fill the pages
In a living book
In self-perpetuating stages

Ask not what you cannot receive
Return not only to leave
Disenchantment becomes your favorite lyric
Passionate doubt becomes a reason to believe

One cannot understand what is beyond comprehension
One cannot concede that which is not one's to concede
The quest for answers leads to alienation
It is fear, and not your dreams, that you feed

Speculate about the future
Wear the remnants of the past
Dissect another's mind
And soon the present an impenetrable mold will cast
